Outdoor School For All grants fund state programs supporting immersive, multiday, accredited overnight outdoor education program experiences for students in grades 4 to 12. Grant funds provide state funding for program fees, transportation, and teacher stipends.

All Minnesota public, private, and, tribal and home schools serving grades 4-12 are eligible.

Minnesota currently has five accredited overnight providers:
Deep Portage ELC in Hackensack
Eagle Bluff ELC in Lanesboro
Long Lake Conservation Center in Palisade
Osprey Wilds ELC in Sandstone
Wolf Ridge ELC in Finland

Grant funds are distrubuted to the 5 accredited overnight providers and schools/groups apply for funds through each of the providers. Contact one of the 5 Outdoor School providers you are interested in working with for more information.

Outdoor school programming can occur in the academic year or during the summer, as long as it's a multi-day, overnight experience.

The actual amount awarded to each school or group is determined by the application and available funding.

Yes! Oregon and Washington both have passed Outdoor School for All legislation with Maine and Maryland working on it. There are other states in the early process of drafting legislation and gaining support. Learn about the National OSFA Movement here.
